New Zealand gardener builds the garden planning tool that should have existed 20 years ago
Every major garden planning app is built for the wrong country. Planting Season was built from scratch for 10 New Zealand climate regions.
Planting Season launched with a simple premise: New Zealand gardeners deserve planting advice based on New Zealand conditions. Every major competitor is built for the UK or USA. Their calendars use northern hemisphere frost dates. Their growing season resets in the wrong month. Their varieties don't suit New Zealand heat.
"I kept planting at the wrong time because the apps I was using were giving me UK advice. Eventually I stopped trusting the apps and started building my own." Scott Perry, Founder
Planting Season covers 8 regions, from Kerikeri to Invercargill, 166 plants with New Zealand variety recommendations, drag-and-drop bed planner, companion planting intelligence, and watering reminders. Works fully offline as a PWA.
First month: $200 revenue, 1,800 search impressions, zero paid advertising. Free at plantingseason.co.nz.
